Sarah Ciel

Sarah Ratty FRSA is the premiere UK fashion designer to actively address sustainability in all aspects of design. In the early 1990s, Sarah launched the pioneering "Conscious Earthwear " label and has been working to address the environmental impact of the industry ever since. Tipped by i-D and Vogue as "one to watch", Her work has been exhibited at the United Nations, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy, Barbican, Crafts Council, Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, British Hotwave in Tokyo , Raffles in Singapore, Melbourne & Sydney and toured with the British Council to Brazil. Sarah is a Founder Member of EFF*  and Chair 2007-12 and member of the Soil Association Textile Advisory Board, for GOTS**. Collaborations with her second brand Ciel include Whistles, Top shop and Anthropologie and with her first brand Conscious Earthwear include i-D, Levis and Dr. Martins. Her work has always been well received and a celebrity following included, Steps, All Saints, Mel B, Macy Grey, Zoe Ball, Cate Blanchett and Livia Firth of Eco-Age. Sarah is a Fellow at the RSA and an assessor for the European Environmental Business Awards. Winner of the inaugural BKCEC Export Award presented by HRH Princess Anne for Export for Ethical Fashion 2007, The Observer Ethical Awards 2007 and the London and Southeast Regional British Chamber Awards for Sustainability 2011. Recent engagements include Moderator and host panel Fashion Africa Conference at The Mayors Office - City Hall London. September 2019. Ambassadorr FWF Tree Planting CIC 2019-2022, Advisor SuperLooper - Circular Childrens Sustainable Babywear - Winner Marie Claire Sustainable Award 2022.
